Latrigg. The Perfect Place
At 368m (1207ft) Latrigg commands an impressive view over Keswick and the
northern Borrowdale Valley occupied by Derwentwater. A hugely popular place,
due to its closeness to Keswick (by car or foot) and also due to the stunning
panoramic views available from its summit. In the summer months it does get
very busy and you should consider yourself lucky if you are up there alone.
Latrigg is part of the Skiddaw massif and is the southernmost and lowest fell.
A wooden seat has been sited close to the summit on the edge of the path and
provides the
Perfect Place
to sit and take in the view.
How to get there
Travelling by car from Keswick; at the A66 / B591 (Bassenthwaite road)
roundabout take the B591 for 50 yrds and then the right turn to Applethwaite.
Just before reaching Applethwaite take the sharp right hand turn and follow the
signpost to Skiddaw. The end of the road has seen better days in places but is
quite passable with care. Park in the car park at the end of the road on the
northern edge of Mallen Dodd.
