5 August 2009 - Buttermere & Derwentwater
Having been watching the awful weather forecasts for the past 4 weeks, I
finally saw an opportunity to spend a few more days in the Lakes. The plan was
to camp at Buttermere, but with the persistent early morning cloud in the east
spoiling what could have been some stunning sunrises I only stayed one night
and took the opportunity for some walks at Crummock Water and Rannerdale before
moving on.
A short stop off at Watendlath for a photo opportunity before I finally pitched
tent again at the Castlerigg Farm campsite south east of Keswick. Some very
early morning starts at Hawse End and Brandelhow on the western shore of
Derwentwater and also at Castlehead and climbing Catbells allowed more shots to
be taken.
