22 September 2008 - Ravenstone Hotel
Being based at the new cottage at the Ravenstone Hotel at the northern end of
Dodd Wood on the A591 for a few days was an ideal break from everyday life and
gave the opportunity for some photography. Despite summer 2008 being far from
a photographer's dream, my wife's 'booking of the weather' for our four days in
the Lakes worked a treat.
A number of sunrises were caught at Latrigg and Tewet Tarn; despite the
relatively late sunrise time of 7am the crowds stayed away from Tewet Tarn, if
not from Latrigg. I was thankful for leaving my wellies in the car as Tewet
Tarn does require some wading to achieve the best viewpoints; even then my left
boot was breached at one point which took the edge off the rest of that
particular shoot. No pain, no gain, I'm told!
Some very pleasant walks at Buttermere, Derwentwater (Friar's Crag &
Castlehead) and Watendlath resulted in a collection of photographs, some of
which can be viewed in the panel on the right.
