Lone tree at Sunset (SS-03652)

Lone tree at Sunset. Ref. SS-03652

Having been a cloudless blue sky day I was not hopeful that the sunset would be much to get excited about, however the arrival of clouds in the late afternoon changed my thoughts. Having spotted this tree I considered its potential silhoueted against the darkened fells of Catbells on the left and Causey Pike on the right, perched inbetween Skelgill Bank and Rowling End.

The sky didn't quite turn into the dynamic event I'd hoped for, but then maybe less is more...

Date taken 17 October 2009.
Settings: Pentax K10D with 18-55mm lens @ 28mm. Exposure 1/20 sec @ f/8.
