Parking the car at the top of the winding road section at The Coombs just to the south east of Hallin Fell, provides immediate access to the footpath which skirts Hallin Fell to the north.
The path provides some excellent viewing points over northern Ullswater, Howtown Wyke, the village of Howtown and the Fells beyond.

This photograph was taken from the water's edge at Howtown Wyke looking to the western shore of Ullswater.

Settings: Pentax K10D with 18-55mm lens @ 21mm. Exposure 1/20th sec @ f/8.
