Haystacks from Hassness (SS-02355)

Haystacks from Hassness. Ref. SS-02355

Camping at Syke Farm is perfect for being right on the doorstep of both Buttermere and Crummock Water. This scene was witnessed shortly after sunrise on Buttermere at Hassness.
I had high hopes of a perfect sunrise given the clear skies at 4.30 when I stumbled out of my tent onto the frosty grass, but the haze of the previous day was back by the time I reached the water's edge. The early mist lying on the surface of the water was also evaporating as I arrived, but the stillness of the water and the haze across Warnscale Bottom and Burtness created the most incredibly ethereal scene.

Date taken 21 March 2009.
Settings: Pentax K10D with 18-55mm lens @ 18mm. Exposure 0.5sec @ f/13.
